Wilma Jean (Kain) Routt, at 96 years old, passed away peacefully at her home of 62 years on June 20, 2019 surrounded by family.

Born on April 24, 1923 and raised in Seattle, she was predeceased by her husband of 32 years Robert, parents Bill and Frances Kain, and sister Fran McJannet.

Wilma attended St. Benedict’s grade school, Holy Names Academy, and Seattle University.  She served in World War II as a Second Lieutenant and nurse in the U.S. Army.  Wilma and Robert married in 1951 and moved to Kirkland in 1956 and were members of Holy Family parish.

They had 6 children, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Wilma is survived by her children Robert, Jr., and his wife Jill, Paul, Thomas, Mary Frances Otani and her husband Mike, Maureen Heitz and her husband Chuck, and Michael and his wife Anne.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Monica Comfort and her husband Brian, Alyson Stachiw and her husband Thomas, Dorothy Routt, Robyn Miller and her husband Jeff, Jamie Martinez and her husband Eddie, Megan Marino and her husband Darren, Kelly Slechta, Haley Heitz, and Charles Heitz. Wilma is also survived by her 10 great-grandchildren, brother Michael Kain, and sister Kay Maehren.

Wilma was known for her welcoming smile, her desire to talk to everybody, and her genuine interest in others.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

A Rosary at Holy Family Parish (7300 120th Ave. N.E., Kirkland) will be held on July 17th at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral services at Holy Family will be on July 18th at 11 a.m.
