Bill Owen

William H (Bill) Owen, 82, of Kirkland, passed away at the Evergreen Hospice January 26th, following a long battle with dementia. Bill was born in Duluth, Minnesota and moved with his parents and sister to Hillsboro, Oregon with the outbreak of World War II. In 1951, Bill married his high school sweetheart Anne Yackley and they moved to Seattle in 1954, and later to Kirkland in 1967. Married for 43 years, Anne Owen preceded Bill in death passing away in 1994. This was a great loss for Bill, whose life revolved around Anne.

Bill was a lifetime commission salesman traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest selling tools and auto parts. He enjoyed the autonomy his job provided, allowing him to attend the many sporting activities, recitals and concerts involving his three children. Following his retirement he traveled around the United States visiting family and friends. He also chauffeured his grandchildren to their many activities and attended all of their games and recitals. The grandchildren particularly enjoyed the annual trips to the tulip fields and the stops for ice cream. Throughout his adult life Bill always found groups to join as a regular at the coffee shop in the morning and a lounge in the evening. Bill is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Geoff & Lisa Owen and their three daughters, Callie, Amanda and Sarah; son and daughter-in-law, Craig & Laurie Owen, their daughter Chelsea and son Alec; daughter and son-in-law: Elizabeth (Owen) & Keith McManus; and his sister Kathryn Owen.

A memorial service will be held Thursday February 16th from 3:00 to 4:00 at Barton Family Funeral Services, 11630 Slater Ave NE, Kirkland, WA; followed by a gathering of family and friends at Anthony’s Homeport in Kirkland.
