Vicki Harvey

Vicki Harvey (b: Viola Belle Webster) passed away peacefully on August 29, 2013, at her home surrounded by family.  She was 86.

Vicki (as she insisted on being called) was born on September 17th, 1926, in the small town of Salina, Oklahoma where she spent most of her childhood.  She showed tremendous courage when she lost her father, mother, and older sister Margie as a young teen.  Vicki’s stalwart nature kept her moving forward through these and many other trials in life.  She moved to California during WWII and was a ferry operator, bus driver, hair stylist, waitress, and tile contractor – always working hard to provide for her family.  Regardless of the many challenges, she showed her strength, amazing work ethic and creativity; she emerged as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and was known as a talented artist, singer, writer, avid reader, and cook.

She was an accomplished painter and shared her paintings with family and friends from coast to coast.  She sold a number of paintings over the years and even painted a large mural of the San Francisco skyline for Sears Fine Foods in San Francisco, CA.   Painting was her passion and she loved bringing joy to others with her art work.

Vicki had the ability to look inside herself and continually evolve into the person she wanted to be; she made her life count, without a wasted moment!  Vicki’s greatest pleasures in this life were her family, home-cooked meals, music, the sounds and views of the Pacific Ocean, and the sharing of love and laughter with her devoted husband Jim, her family and friends.  Family gatherings always included a slice of her pie and Vicki with coffee in hand!

She is survived by her husband James Harvey, her children Annette (Jim), Bradlee (Cathy), Paula (Joe) and Brandi (Liana), grandchildren (Heather (Axel), Justin (Deron), Brynn, Finley, Nathan Vicki and Jim 2(Sophia), Adam (Jill), Christian, Seth (Brittany), Buzz (Camille), Laurel, and Logan) and many great grandchildren.  She also leaves her brother Charles (Foye), sister Wanda, brother-in-law Pete, sisters-in-law Ethel and Wilma, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents James and Sylvia, brothers James and Glen, her sisters Agnes, Margie, and Joni, her son in law Gary, and her former husbands – Blackie and Paul.

Mom – We know you are finally at peace in your “Stillwater Cottage” eating your comfort foods (lots of gravy and butter!), reading one of your many books and listening to your favorite music.

We will never forget you……We LOVE you a bushel and a peck!

A Celebration of Life gathering of family and friends will be held October 5, 2013 2pm at Providence Point Clubhouse, Issaquah, WA.

Vicki requests memorial donations in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
