Ted, known to loved ones and friends, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. After facing a brief illness, he was surrounded by the love of his family during his final hours.

A Man of Quiet Strength

Ted, as he was known, was a man of quiet strength. He remained current with technological advancements, proudly owning a high-end smartphone. He forged strong bonds with those around him.

Survived by Loving Family

He is survived by his four sisters, Preciosa, Luz, Ramona, and Manuelita, and two brothers, Federico and Victor. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Ted was predeceased by his brother, Ramuel, and his parents, Ramon Celestial Castro and Manuela Marfa Castro. He was born on January 3, 1952, in Fabrica, Negros Occidental, Philippines.

A Distinguished Career

Following his graduation from the prominent Philippine Maritime Institute in Manila, Ted embarked on his nautical career, navigating the ocean with expertise. Ever selfless, Ted faithfully fulfilled Philippine regulations for overseas workers, ensuring a portion of his earnings went directly to his family in the Philippines throughout his seaman employment.

After immigrating to the United States, he dedicated himself to a fulfilling career at Fairfax Behavioral Health Center in Kirkland.

Beyond Work: A Passion for Chess

Beyond his work, Ted nurtured a passion for chess. Known as Nonoy, Dory, or Doroy to his close family and friends, he found joy in friendly competition with others who shared his love for the game.

Funeral Services

A Funeral Mass will be held at 8:30 am on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Kirkland, located at 7045 120th Ave. NE Kirkland, WA 98033-8122. Following the Funeral Mass, the interment service will be held at 10:00 am at Kirkland Cemetery.

In Lieu of Flowers

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted’s memory would be deeply appreciated by Holy Family Catholic Church in Kirkland, Washington.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated medical teams at EvergreenHealth Kirkland, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center at Evergreen Health Kirkland, Life Care Center of Kirkland, and Virginia Mason Medical Center, who provided exceptional care to Ted during his illness.
