Shawna Lee Valdez, 53, passed away on October 19, 2023. She was born to Refugio and Yvonne Valdez in Pueblo Colorado on October 4,1970. Shawna attended school in Washington and graduated from Lindberg High School in 1989.

She married John G Wong in August of 1993 where they lived together in Kent Washington for 12 years prior to separating. Shawna is survived by her spouse, John Wong and 4 children: Tylor Valdez of Kent, Zachary Valdez of Colorado Springs, Shayla Mejicanos-Valdez of Des Moines and Jade Valdez of Tukwila. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Rigoberto, Isaac, Akeem, Tylor & Sophia in addition to her father, elder sister Melody Teel, elder brother the late Scott Tait, brother Mark Herring, younger sister Michelle Valdez and was predeceased by her mother Yvonne.

Shawna was a loving free-spirited person with no malice in her. She cared for all people and was full of positive energy. She showed kindness to all regardless of circumstance and was always a caretaker by nature. Shawna loved spending time with family and going to places like Ocean Shores to camp out on the beach and unplug. She was funny, carefree, and always stayed true to herself. She taught others the importance of compassion.

A memorial is being held for her on Thursday October 26, 2023 at 11am at Barton Family Funeral Service in Kirkland, WA.
