Russell E. (“Russ”) Lewis

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and excellent human being, Russ will be missed by all who knew him.

Born in Spanish Fork, Utah, Russ spent many years of his youth in McGill, Nevada. Returning with the family to Utah, Russ graduated from high school, and then volunteered to enlist in World War II. He served in the United States Navy and later the Naval Reserve, active in the North African and Pacific theaters. Russ graduated from Southern Methodist University (SMU) with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in metallurgy. He spent his career working in the steel industry, retiring as General Manager of the Seattle branch of Earle M. Jorgensen Steel Co.

Russ was active in the Jaycees in Pocatello, ID. He cared very much about those around him. What defined Russ was his passion for his family. He will be best remembered as a kind man with a droll humor, who held himself and others around him to standards of precision and excellence.

Our world is forever altered. One’s cars will never be parked quite as straight again. And Sunday breakfast isn’t the same without spatula-wielding Chef Lewie clattering in the kitchen.

Left behind, his grieving family includes his cherished wife of 60 years, LaRae; son Randy, daughter in law Cindy; daughter Nancy, and son in law Russ. His grandchildren Nicole, Elizabeth, Bryan, and Zachary will miss him tremendously.

Graveside service will be held 2PM Wednesday, August 31st, at Tahoma National Cemetery. A memorial of his life will be held afterward, starting at 3 PM, in the clubhouse room at The Lodge at Eagle Ridge, 1600 Eagle Ridge Drive, Renton, WA, 98055.

Remembrances can be made to the VA Puget Sound, in memory of Russell E. Lewis: VA Puget Sound Health Care System, 9600 Veterans Drive, Tacoma, WA 98493-5000, Attn: Voluntary Service (A-135).

We will all miss you, Dad.
