Roberta Lee Dawson, 102, passed away peacefully in Bellevue on April 26th. Roberta was the daughter of George L. Standring and Edna Lee Standring.  Bobbie was born in Tacoma on July 4th, 1920 and had two sisters, Georgia and Helen, both deceased.

She graduated from Holy Names Academy and attended U of W before meeting her husband, Major Thomas A. Dawson.  They married in 1946 and lived in Seattle before moving to Vashon Island in 1958.

She and Tom started Dawson Construction in the Shorewood area of south Seattle, building many view homes until moving to Vashon.

Tom, her husband, pre-deceased her in 1966. They had three children, Linda Dawson, Barbara Dawson and Dr. Thomas S. Dawson, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Bobbie was a stay at home mother until her children entered Universities. She moved to Bellevue in 1969, volunteering in a hospital in Redmond for 21 years.

She was an active bridge player, wonderful cook and loved the birds that visited her deck.

Her parents were on the forefront of developing public transportation in Seattle by starting the first bus line from Seattle to Kent and Auburn.

Bobbie will be put with her husband Tom at Tahoma National Cemetery in Auburn. Family memorial will be later this summer.
