Clinton Howard Hoberecht
Clinton “Clint” Howard Hoberecht passed away on October 12, 2026, in Seattle, Washington at the age of 87.
Clint was born on August 9, 1939, to Herman and Lena “Helen” Hoberecht in Newton, Kansas, the youngest of 5 children. His father died when Clint was only 22 months old. His mother remarried to Benjamin “Pop” McClure, and 4 older step-siblings were added to the family. The family lived on a farm near Peabody, Kansas. In addition to working on the farm, Clint enjoyed playing football and was active in the 4H Club.
After high school graduation, Clint attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, where he met his future wife, Donna Unruh. Majoring in math and physics, he attained a college degree in 1961 and began a graduate program at Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, Ohio, earning his master’s degree in mathematics in 1963.
Following graduation, he started what would be a 40-year career at The Boeing Company in the Seattle, Washington, area. He worked in various engineering roles from commercial math analytics to computer and information systems.
Clint and Donna were married in Wichita, KS, in 1964. They enjoyed their new environment in Washington state, taking up sports like tennis, hiking, and skiing. They lived several years in Bellevue and joyfully welcomed 3 children to their family. As the family grew, they moved north to Woodinville, where they spent the past 50 years. They were active in the First United Methodist Church and made many lifelong friends. Clint enjoyed helping and conversing with church members and served as head usher for over 15 years.
Clint made a lasting impact on his family, friends, and community through coaching and refereeing youth soccer, participating with his children in YMCA boys and girls clubs, and as a big brother in the Big Brothers program. He was the sourdough master of the household and Saturday morning pancakes were a family tradition.
Clint was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Lena, brothers Verlin Hoberecht and Herman Hoberecht, sisters Geraldine Snipes and Opal Moore; stepbrothers Glen McClure, Rich McClure, and Lawrence McClure; and stepsister, Geraldine Voth.
Clint is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna; children: Steve Hoberecht and wife Jannette, Lani Shipley and husband Kent, and Randy Hoberecht and wife Nicole; grandchildren: Katie (and husband Jonathan), Brendan, Emily, Eli, Henry, Ryan, and Sara; and great-grandson, Jude.
