Alan Everson Stromme

 

Born 10/17/1944 in Tacoma Washington to Sigurd and Alice (Everson) Stromme

Alan was an only child. His parents divorced but Alan inherited the love of horse racing from his father, who worked around horses his whole life. Alan and his mother lived with his grandparents, Julius and Mary Everson, when he was young and enjoyed a strong family bond during his early days.

He grew up within the Catholic education system, graduating in 1962 from Bellarmine Preparatory High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Army and served 3 years in Germany during the Vietnam War years.

Returning to the U.S. after his tour of duty, Alan attended Tacoma Community College then the University of Washington where he received his Bachelors degree in History.

Alan was married to Ginny Jensen for over 30 years. She preceded him in death in 2012. Then in 2020, Alan was reunited with his high school sweetheart and married Kathleen ONeal in March of 2022. Alan and Kathleen have one daughter, Michelle.

Alan and Ginny helped raise Ginny’s two granddaughters, Alyosha (Jensen)Barton and Nikita Jensen. The family, along with Ginny’s son, Chris, moved to Lynnwood in 2001.

Alan was self employed, running a delivery service between several businesses from Tacoma to Everett for many years, until Alan’s health prevented his driving. He suffered from three strokes during his life, eventually dying from neurological complications May 20, 2026.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, his daughter Michelle Dean, his two step granddaughters, Alyosha and Nikita and his step son Chris Jensen.
