James (Jim) Darius Mavis Jr. (82) of Kirkland, Washington, passed away on May 12, 2026 with his family at his side. He is survived by his beloved wife Larissa Kulinich; his two wonderful children James Darius (Regina) of Tacoma and Kelly of Union; his sweet granddaughter Ramona Mavis; his sister Kathy of Edina, MN; his two brothers Mike and Rick of San Diego, CA; and many cousins and friends scattered across the US who mourn his passing.
Jim was born May 24, 1943 in San Diego, California, to James Darius Alexander and Ruth Anne (Engler) Mavis. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from San Diego State University and worked for many years for CH2M-Hill in Washington state. He was highly intelligent, always curious, easy-going, smiling. In retirement, Jim took great pleasure in his family and friends, always willing to help people. He was an avid reader, and he especially enjoyed many simple things like walks in the park with his wife.
A private funeral and burial have been held.
