Maureen Shriver

Maureen (Mo) Bridget Shriver passed away at Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland, Washington, on March 22, 2026, at the age of 79. She was born July 27, 1946, in Tacoma, Washington, and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Maureen moved with her Air Force family to Phoenix, Arizona; Guam; the Philippines; and Victorville, California, before returning to Tacoma. Though Maureen lost much of her hearing due to a high fever at age three, she persevered with the unwavering support of her parents and maternal grandfather. She graduated from St. Leo’s Catholic High School in 1964 and attended Clover Park Technical College in 1965.

A trailblazer in the workforce, Maureen worked for the Boeing Company in keypunch and the burgeoning field of data entry from 1965 to 1973. She took great pride in her independence during the late 1960s—a time highlighted by the purchase of her new 1968 Mercury Cougar and a memorable vacation to Hawaii. While working at Boeing’s Renton Plant in 1968, she met her husband, Steven; they were married on September 20, 1969, in Tacoma.

In the early years of their marriage, Maureen supported Steven as he earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington. Their journey later took them to Republic, Washington, where their daughter Taryn Eileen was born in 1974, and to Coos Bay, Oregon, where their daughter Nicole Bridget was born in 1977.

Following a move to Port Angeles in 1979, Maureen became a deeply involved and beloved member of her local Catholic parish. In 1985, the family settled in Bellevue, Washington, which became Maureen’s long-time home. She returned to the workforce at Unigard Insurance Group, where she worked until her retirement in 2008.

Retirement brought new adventures with Steven, including travels to France, Norway, and Canada, as well as annual autumn road trips across the United States.

Maureen is survived by her husband, Steven Shriver; her sister, Eileen McAuliffe; her daughters, Taryn Sparacio and Nicole Fetters (Brian); and four grandchildren, Kelsey, Nathan, Giulia, and Marco. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Effie (Gillis) McAuliffe, and her sisters, Kathleen Pasco and Patricia McKinnon.

A memorial service will be held at Emerald Heights in Redmond, Washington, at a later date; details will be announced once scheduled.
