Margaret Weller Berard

On November 1, 2021, All Saints Day, the Lord took our beloved Margie home.  She passed away at her home in Kenmore surrounded by family.

Margaret Weller Berard, was born January 16, 1949, in Spokane, Washington to Walter and Winifred (Shreve) Weller, the seventh of their nine children.  She went to Mary Cliff High School in Spokane, then attended Seattle University, where she met her beloved husband of 50 years, Peter Berard while on a ski trip to Banff.

They were married in 1971 and moved to Kenmore to raise their four kids, Jennifer (Jason) Richmond, Bill (Teresa) Berard, Colleen Berard, Molly Berard.  It gave her immense joy to spend time with her family and especially with her grandchildren, Colton, Carson and Maggie Richmond, and Piper and Daisy Berard.  She cherished her sisters weekends and was notorious for having two-hour long conversations with her sisters.

Margie lived her life as a devoted Catholic and from an early age let her faith shine through in her actions.

Margie was a stay-at-home mom and was heavily involved in her kid’s activities.  From supporting their schooling and PTA, to Girl Scouts, to mission trips to Mexico, to watching endless soccer games in the rain, she was always there!  If she wasn’t at a kid, grand-kid, or church activity, you could find her pulling weeds in her yard or beating someone at solitaire.

Margie started working for St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Kirkland in 1992.  She remained there over many years and retired in June 2021.  Through her dedication and loyalty to the parish, she earned the name “Mom” of St. John Vianney.  Some even referred to her as “Monsignor Margie”.  She meant so much to so many people, we are only now learning how far reaching her love was felt.  She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and of course friend.  She had a way of making everyone feel like family.  Her actions were always genuine and full hearted, her empathy felt no bounds and she always put others before herself.  She will always be remembered for her love of everyone.  To know her was to love her!

She was the ultimate host, and it filled her heart to have people around.  From the moment you arrived till you pulled out of the driveway she was going to try and feed you as much as possible and send you away with goodies.  She was the queen of buying candy for the “grandkids” and hiding it all over the house, only to be found by her husband and adult children, months or years later.  When the playing cards came out so did the snacks and you better believe black licorice was always in the mix.

She is survived by her husband, 4 kids, 5 grand-kids and siblings George Weller, Jan Ebeling, Walt Weller, Kathy Ely, and Theresa McDonald and many other family members. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Walt and Winnie Weller, her siblings Gerry Weller, Jim Weller, and Jody Dunn and her niece Brianna Weller.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 13th at 10 am at St. John Vianney Church, Kirkland, WA.  (12600 84th AVE NE, Kirkland 98034)

In lieu of gifts or flowers please donate to St John Vianney or to your favorite charity.

She will forever be missed!

We love you forever and a day!
