Kory Corby

Kory Corby (née Myszczuk), of Issaquah, Washington, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2023, at the age of 89.

Kory and her husband Lance immigrated to Bellevue, Washington from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1966. They retired to Ocean Shores, Washington until Lance passed away in 2003, then she made Issaquah her home. Kory and Lance were married for 53 years. They enjoyed golfing together, camping in their fifth wheel, playing cards and games, and spending time with the many friends they made over the years. After Lance was gone, Kory and a long-time family friend George Dunlop found great comfort in each other’s friendship and company, and they spent 10 years with each other until George’s passing in 2016.

In addition to working with Lance in the family business, Kory enjoyed cooking, baking, getting together with her friends, walking, Zumba classes, and was very gifted in creative activities. She was a master in cake decorating, flower arranging, loved to paint, and delighted in scrap-booking. Kory also had a green thumb, with her yard a beauty to behold. She grew both flowers and vegetable gardens and cultivated a large “bee and butterfly” garden that attracted hummingbirds, songbirds, ducks, Canada geese, and deer. This love of birds and gardens was evident in all her homes.

Kory always had a welcoming home for friends and family. She enjoyed entertaining and her home was always beautifully decorated for the holidays. Kory was quick to offer coffee, food, and a place to stay to all who came to visit. Her generosity, kindness, and love will be sorely missed.

Kory is survived by her three children, Dhorea Brown, Dena Corby, and Wade Corby, four grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She will be honored with a family Celebration of Life in a warm weather and outdoor setting, where Kory can be forever among the flora and fauna she loved.
