
Joan Lee Iles
Joan Lee Iles, 82, of Seattle passed away on 4/11/2026 beside her daughter Amanda De Casso. Joan was born in Seattle. Her parents were Leeland Akers and Phyllis Wood. A lot of Joan’s childhood was spent in Spokane, where she graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Joan loved life. She loved animals, camping, toys, family, her VW bus and having a fun time. Joan enjoyed making the holidays magical. She treated all children as if they were her own. Her best friend was Michele Stark and the Vandevens.
Joan bought her home on her own in the Central District in the late 1970’s which she loved. She worked as a waitress at the Bon Marche Cascade Room in Seattle. Joan went back to school at North Seattle Community College and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at the King County Jail and retired after thirteen years.
Joan is survived by her son Cory Vandeven, daughter Amanda De Casso and her grandchildren June, Maizy, Ricky De Casso, Ty Fleming, dog Trixie and cat Maggie. A ceremony will be planned to bury her ashes in the near future.
