1927 – 2022
Jeanne Magnuson Scott, a native of Emmett, Idaho, passed away in Bellevue, Washington, after a short illness.
She was employed as a telephone operator in the Emmett Telephone office until she transferred to San Francisco, California, and then Redding, California, where she retired after 30 years.
Throughout her life Jeanne enjoyed adventures of many kinds. This was evidenced by purchasing a motorcycle to ride in San Francisco the hilliest city in the United States. Nothing stood in her way.
Jeanne lovingly cared for her invalid husband in California until her father’s death whereupon they moved to Letha, Idaho, to be near her mother. After the deaths of her husband and mother, she moved to Seattle, Washington, to be a support for her sister Billie whose husband was gravely ill.
She was a member of the Skyway Methodist Church in Renton, Washington, where she volunteered in an after school program for tutoring children in reading. She also arranged to collect and distribute food for people in need.
The four sisters met at Jeanne’s home in Seattle each Wednesday for “Sisters’ Day”. It was a cherished time to enjoy their close bond by often laughing uproariously and sharing stories of growing up on a farm in Idaho.
She is survived by her sisters Sharon Magnuson Berry and Marilyn Magnuson Johnson, brother-in-law Alan Johnson, stepgrandchildren David and Chelsea Chapman, their children, and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Rex and Edna Magnuson, sister Willa (Billie) Modin, husband Raymond Scott and stepdaughter Candace Chapman.
Jeanne was adored by her parents, grandparents, sisters, entire extended family and lifelong friends. She will be greatly missed.
Interment will be in the Emmett, Idaho, cemetery.
