Helen Louise Heavrin

Helen Louise Heavrin was born on August 25, 1927 and went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2012.  She was born the daughter of James and Mamie Keller in Gainesville, Alabama.

She was originally married to Lester Clark, and then to Glenn Thomas (Tim) Heavrin, who have both preceded her in death.  She had four siblings,   her sister Hazel, brothers Jerry and Ronald.  Her brother Harry also preceded her in death.  She was the loving mother to Malinda Ortega, Cynthia (Donald), Jana, Robert (Victoria), John (Jackie) Glenna (Gary), Daniel (Debi), James (Karen), Laura and beloved daughter Timra.  There are 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

She was born in the coal town of Gainesville, Alabama and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 18 months.  She helped raise her siblings and worked the farm with her parents where she loved to cook, bake and sew. Her interests were in her family, books, crafts, cake decorating and in the final years of her life, she loved to wear sparkly hats and jewelry.

She split her time working in catering and being a stay at home mom.  She loved presenting good food presented in a unique way.  Her family still recalls the special family times where she would labor in the kitchen preparing incredible meals for them to enjoy.

She had an incredible way of making every one of her children feel loved and cherished.  She didn’t have an easy life, but nothing made her more proud than the accomplishments of her family.  She would be tireless in her care of her children making sure they had the best that she could provide and all the opportunities available to them that made their lives meaningful.  She made their surroundings festive for them and always felt that God had placed her in this world to be their mother.

She loved fresh starts and would often move between California, Indiana and Florida when she sensed that one of her kids needed her there.  In 2006 she settled in Washington State with her two youngest daughters.  She loved how green Washington was and felt that she had a permanent home here.

She loved God and had such a simple faith.  She knew that Jesus loved her because the bible told her so.  She was a longtime member at Woodruff Place Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana and was so proud of her membership at Northshore Baptist Church, Bothell, WA.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Life Care Center of Kirkland, 10101 Northeast 120th Street, Kirkland, Washington 98034.  She loved flowers and we will be filling the memorial space with them in her honor.  The family also asks for those attending the service to wear your favorite hat in honor of our precious mom.
