Glen Lindy Neidhardt, born August 13, 1927, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 29, 2026, at the age of 98.
Glen was born in Chicago and was raised on the city’s south side, later earning his doctorate in mathematics from the University of Chicago. He worked as an engineer briefly for ASF and then AMF before embarking on a long career with GATX in the Chicago area, eventually becoming their Director of Science and Planning and settling with his family in Deerfield IL. He retired first to Chapel Hill NC and then to Edmonds WA.
Glen enjoyed traveling with his wife Betty, and he loved listening to classical music, being an accomplished pianist himself. In addition to mathematics, he loved games and puzzles of all kinds, and was a Gold Life Master at bridge. His sweet disposition included a sweet tooth, and he was often known to say, “I’ve never met a dessert I didn’t like.”
Glen is survived by his two sons, Arnie and Wayne, along with Wayne’s wife Jadwiga, and by his grandson Dylan and granddaughter Tiona. Let good memories of Glen ease our sorrow.
