Ellie Gilbertson Smith

Ellie Gilbertson Smith of Bellevue, WA passed away on May 1st at 2:44 am. She was 79 years of age.

She was born in Germany, one of five children and the daughter of Karl and Elfriede Hentschel. In 1959 she married Gordon Gilbertson in Germany and the couple moved to Larimore, ND in 1961. They moved to Washington State in 1967 with their family. They raised three daughters that all still live in the Pacific Northwest.

Ellie ran a daycare for 15 years in Kent, WA and always had a passion for nurturing children. In 1986 her husband, Gordon, passed away and Ellie then became employed for Boeing as a fabricator for six years before her retirement. She loved cooking, gardening and gathering with friends and family.

Ellie is survived by her three daughters; Liz Alexander, Sandy Read, and Carmen Helfenstein, one brother, seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her kind and giving spirit will be missed by many.

She will be buried next to her husband Gordon at Hillcrest Burial Park, Kent WA.
