Eileen Hyde

February 2, 1930 ~ January 23, 2013

Eileen Hyde was born on February 2, 1930 in Eastbourne England.  As a young child she grew up with her brothers during the fighting of world war two.  She served two years in the WRENS (Women of the Royal Naval Services) and emigrated from England to Ottawa, Canada in 1957.  Within a short time, her boyfriend, Ed, followed her from England to Canada and they continued their courtship.  Ed and Eileen were married in Canada on July 26, 1958.  They continued to live in Ottawa and started their family.  They moved to the Greater Seattle area in December, 1968, and Ed began his engineering career in the aerospace industry.  Eileen worked at Bellevue’s Overlake Hospital in Pathology for seventeen years, where she was well liked and appreciated.  She had a great love of gardening and was a member of the Eastside/Bellevue Garden Club.  Both Eileen and her Husband, Ed of 54 years, were involved in English Speaking Union and were active in leadership and in making friends.  Eileen was a wonderful cook, and a fine baker of many tasty cookies and treats for which she is fondly remembered.  She is survived by her Husband, Ed, three children, Tracy, Paul, and Amanda, and five grandchildren.  Her warm and caring heart was a blessing to her family and friends, and she will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, small scholarship donations can be made to ESU (English Speaking Union)  in Seattle.  Her Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on March 2, 2013 at Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 2650 148th Avenue SE, Bellevue, WA  98007.
