Edwin Fernandez Bactad, Jr.

Edwin Fernandez Bactad, Jr. of Kirkland, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 21, 2011 while traveling on business in Orlando, FL. He was 35 years old. Edwin was born on April 13, 1975 in San Narciso, Zambales, Philippines and moved to Seattle when he was 3 years old. After growing up with his family in south Seattle, he attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and graduated in 1997 with a BS in Physics. He began his career as an electrical engineer, most recently as a Senior Associate with WSP Flack & Kurtz in Seattle. In 2005, after 13 years together, he married his high school sweetheart Sarah and they have three children.

Edwin loved sports. He enjoyed spending an afternoon at the ballpark watching the Mariners play or gearing up to watch the Seahawks play at Qwest Field on a cold, rainy wet day, poncho and all. He could also be found on the golf course, practicing his game, or at the driving range, sharing his skills with Trey.

Most of all, he was a loving, passionate and devoted husband and father who was most often found with a child, or three, in his arms. Whether it was playing ball in the yard, teaching the kids how to ride a tricycle or wrestling on the living room floor, he brought happiness to the kids faces each and every day. Nothing made Edwin happier than spending time with his family. His family was his world.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah, three children – Edwin Carter, III (Trey) (4yrs) and twins Easton Prescott and Emery Belle (19 months); mother Zoraida Bactad, brother Jesse (Robin) Bactad, sister Carmen (Maurice) Karagiorgos, niece and nephew Lexi and Xavier Karagiorgos; grandparents Jesus and Efihenia Fernandez, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceeded in death by his father, Edwin P. Bactad, Sr.
