Edward D. Haywood Sr. (Ed) was born in Everett, Washington on September 8th ,1938 and shortly thereafter moved with his family to Seattle (Greenlake). He went to Roosevelt High School. served in the Army and then in 1965 he became an Electrician at IBEW, Local 46 until he retired in 1999. Ed was a Marine Electrician for many years, later he became a Journeyman Electrician, a career he kept until his retirement. He was active in the Union as a Brother and served as an Executive Board Member where he helped push through important language changes.  One in particular was seeing that the members/brothers were able to retire with the union paying their medical insurance from age 62-65, which still stands to this date. Ed enjoyed traveling and he and his wife Judy traveled frequently both in the states and in Europe.  They also bought a home in Mesa, AZ and would spend winters down there to escape the rain in Seattle.  There he joined the shuffleboard teams and would win several trophies.  He also loved going to Estate Sales with his good friend Don Willis.  Every weekend they would go out looking for some new “treasure”.  He leaves behind many friends and family that feel blessed he touched their lives. Ed was always true to his beliefs and seldom wavered in his opinion.
Ed passed away peacefully after a long illness from cancer on October 22nd 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Haywood and his beloved mother Opal Haywood and his sister Francis Nellis. He is survived by his loving wife Judy, his brother Wesley, children Julia Haywood Sty (Scott), Edward Haywood, Jr. (Peggy) Eric Haywood (Jie) and Blann Haywood.  He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren Nathan, Megan, Heather, Linsey, Michelle, Blann Jr. and William. Also 2 great grand-daughters Summer Lynn and Emma.  Ed had many friends that were also true to him and many felt they were better people knowing him. Ed loved his family, and had different and special relationships with each of them.  He is forever loved, missed and remembered.
