Douglas W. Pihl


Douglas W. Pihl, formerly of Slidell, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011 in Seattle, Washington after a short illness.  He was born on June 22, 1939 in Stillman Valley, Illinois to Ernest and Jean Pihl.  He married Nina Langenhennig on January 13, 1968 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He is survived by his wife Nina, son Kevin (Rebecca) Pihl of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, daughter Lori (Kevin Franks) Pihl-Franks of Arlington, Virginia and grandchildren Shelby, Matthew and Jacob. Also survived by his brothers Donald Pihl of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dean Pihl of Davis Junction, Illinois, sisters Marion Lingel of Rockford, Illinois, Joyce Cole of Cissna Park, Illinois and Betsy Smith Rochelle of Illinois.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Douglas graduated from the University of Illinois, was a commissioned officer in the Marine Corps, and was employed as an engineer for McDermott International for many years.

A memorial service will be held at the Congregational Christian Church of Stillman Valley, followed by interment burial at the Big Mound Cemetery in Davis Junction, Illinois.

He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
