David Brady, Sr.

David Marshall Brady, Sr. (68), of Bothell, Washington, passed away peacefully on January 28th, 2023, after a 6 year battle with two different cancers.

David was born to George and Gladys Brady on March 23rd, 1954.  He was an athlete through high school, a coach through early adulthood, and an avid Seattle sports fan through his entire life (Mariners, Seahawks, and especially the Kraken).  David loved his family, especially his wife of 48 years, Karen Donelson Brady, and had a passion for helping others.  This passion for community service got him inducted into the Northshore School District Wall of Honor in August 2022, which surprised him and made him feel quite honored.

During his younger years, David went on the Hospital Ship Hope with his parents, serving those needing medical care.  He was a member of Bothell DeMolay in his youth, and a Freemason, Shriner, and Scottish Rite member in his adulthood.  With these organizations, David served as Worshipful Master of Ashler Lodge #121, and as Potentate of the Nile Shrine.  He started an adopt a highway litter patrol program with his lodge, helped deliver bicycles to children at local schools, and raised and donated money to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Portland and Spokane.  David also served the Masonic Youth Organizations as a board member, Rainbow Dad, and Associate Bethel Guardian.

David was extremely hard-working.  He worked at Boeing for 35 years as an inspector on the flight line after working his way up, and when he retired, Boeing had to hire three people to replace him.  After retiring, he drove a school bus for Durham in Everett School District.  It had been his dream since childhood to drive a school bus when he retired.  He loved working with the students, and always had a big smile, and a warm and caring demeanor toward everyone he met.

When David was diagnosed with two different cancers in January and December of 2017, he showed true strength and positivity.  He learned to take one day at a time and encouraged several others he knew who were also battling cancer.  His never give up attitude inspired everyone around him.  He made the most out of his life, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on his grandchildren at their activities as often as he was able.

David is survived by his wife, Karen Brady; their two children, David Brady, Jr. (wife Carmen), and Kelli Marletto (husband Michael); five grandchildren, Kayla Brady, Matthew Matz, Alexander Marletto, Cadence Marletto, and Beau Brady; his brother, W. Mace Brady (wife Janet); his sister, Patricia Richardson; brothers-in-law, David Donelson (wife Kim), Wayne Donelson (wife Vanessa); sister-in-law, Kirsten Shaw (husband Jim); and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, by his brother, George Brady, Jr., and by his sister, Carolyn Brady.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 19th, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Nile Shriners Temple, 6601 244th St SW, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043.
