Daniel Joseph Sabo

Daniel Joseph Sabo was born to Ernest Joseph (Joe) Sabo Jr and MariLyn Vaughn Sabo at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle. He was the second of 5 children in this family. He was raised in Bothell and graduated from Cascade High School and ITT Technical Institute of Technology.  His professional career was designing elevators for ThyssenKrupp and other local firms with numerous installs across the country.

Dan volunteered with the Seafair Hydroplane races for the past 21 years and assisted in the course survey operations which his grandfather chaired for over 50 years.  Dan’s hobbies were fishing, cooking/BBQ competitions, and sports fanatic. He was a wealth of sports knowledge and often referred to as beating google to the correct answer.  Dan loved Seattle sports and collected memorabilia from the region.  He was a 20-year season ticket holder for the Seahawks and would fly in for home games while working abroad.

Dan was most known for his heart of gold.  He would spend his time helping any friend in need from getting groceries, driving to doctors appointments, house/pet sitting, to being the ear to listen or the shoulder to cry on.  His outlook on life was always to make the world better with the time you have and leave it better and brighter.  Dan’s jokes, smile, and laugh will truly be missed.

Dan was preceded in death by his father Joe in March 2020 and his grandparents. He is survived by his mother, MariLyn; his siblings MariJo Yim (Chong), Rachel Ross (Brad), Steven Sabo (Shelley), Jessie Yerby (Justin), 9 nieces and nephews, and many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. He also enjoyed being an honorary uncle to his friend’s children & grandchildren.  A memorial service will take place in May/June of 2023.
