Cora Loretta (Coretta) Gullstrand

Cora (Coretta) Gullstrand of Skyway, Washington, died September 13, 2019 of coronary artery disease.

Coretta was born June 20, 1933 in Lake Williams, North Dakota to Jeremiah (Ernest) and Arrilla Williams and was one of seven children. She married Jack Gullstrand July 24, 1951 and they made their first home at the US Army Base at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Coretta lived in Skyway, Washington, for 60 years, continuing to live in their home for another eight years after her husband, Jack Gullstrand, passed away in 2005. She moved to Boulevard Park Senior Living apartments in 2013, and later moved in with her daughter, Vonnie, in North Seattle in 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeremiah and Arrilla Williams, as well as five brothers, “Jerry” Lester Williams, Joe Williams, Jim Williams, Pat Williams, Loren Williams and sister, Della Markham.  She is survived by her four children, Vonnie Breidenstein of Seattle, Washington; Deanne Alfaro of Shoreline, Washington; Brad Gullstrand of Kent, Washington; and Jerry Gullstrand of Juneau, Alaska. She had seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and niece, Bobbi Campbell, nephew Wally Markham of Winlock, Washington, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Coretta was an outgoing, happy person and was a very loving and giving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She and Jack were lifetime members of the Skyway VFW and VFW Auxiliary and dedicated more than 60 years volunteering in community affairs, Skyway VFW, VFW Auxiliary, and the Seattle VA Hospital.

Coretta was a Camp Fire Girls leader for many years, and she Jack and the entire family helped at Camp Sealth each spring. They also volunteered at the Lakeside School Rummage Sales for 21+ years, always with a big smiles and pans of her famous pumpkin bars. It was not uncommon for her to be first to arrive and last to leave.

Memorial service/Celebration of Life will be held at Skyway Washington VFW at 2:00 p.m. on September 29, 2019. Interment Service to join her husband will be at a future date at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington.
