Beverly Jean Baldwin

 

Beverly Jean Baldwin was born May 5, 1933 in Yakima, WA to John and Olivine Voelker.

She passed away at Emerald Heights in Redmond, WA on March 23, 2013 with family present. She is now at peace after a 12-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

After growing up on her parents’ farm in Yakima, she moved to Seattle to attend college at Seattle University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology in 1955. She met her future husband Gerald W. (Jerry) Baldwin through the Seattle University Alumni Association. They moved to Bellevue and raised three sons – Michael, Steven and Brian. Bev volunteered extensively with the Association for Catholic Childhood and St Louise School.

Bev had many interests including playing bridge and pinochle, pulling the slot machines at the casinos and traveling.  Among her many skills were her sewing and knitting. Her favorite projects were a wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses for her daughters-in law and many afghans and quilts.

Bev and Jerry shared many adventures throughout their lives. They especially enjoyed the annual family vacations with the kids, their trips to Reno and many cruises. During these cruises, they visited all seven continents. From the glaciers in Alaska to the crocodiles in Darwin. From the North Sea to the tip of South America and Antarctica.

She spent her last 8 years among many new friends at Emerald Heights Retirement Community.Grandma and kids at zoo

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Jerry, her parents John and Olivine and her sister Lois. She is survived by her sons Michael (Kimber), Steven (Candy) and Brian, grandchildren Jeffrey (15), Anne (13), Becky (12), Marie (10), Emily (6) and Blake (5), brother Robert and sister Marilyn.

 

A funeral service will be held on Thursday March 28 at 11:00 at St Jude Catholic Church, 10526 166th Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98052. Burial will follow at 2:30 at Calvary Cemetery, 5041 35th Ave NE,  Seattle, WA.Baldwin2a
