Al Laird

6/22/1938 – 4/16/2011

Al grew up in and gradated from Ballard High School.  In 1969, he married Pam (Finnigan).  Sysco Food Service was Al’s career for over 30 years.  His customers enjoyed his easygoing approach to sales, making him a salesman with many lasting customer friendships.  After retiring from Sysco, Al went to work for his longtime friend, Dan Meyer at Northshore Sheet Metal.  Al thoroughly enjoyed working as part of the crew at Northshore.  Al and Pam spent their winters in Indio, CA with their extended Desert Aire family.  He especially enjoyed his buddies at “Lot Fore”, playing golf and water volleyball.  Al was also known for his love of going to garage sales, thrift shops, and auctions.  A common phrase often heard around the house after these outings was, “Oh no, I’ve had that for a long time”.

His parents, Jim and Lois Laird and his brother, Denny Laird, preceded him in death.  Al is survived by his wife, Pam and his children, Becky and Trent.  Al was a devoted grandfather to Ellie and Carter, children of Linda and Aaron Alberts.  The circle of friends and family that have supported the Laird Family is loving and strong.  All who knew him will miss his gentle soul and soft-spoken approach.

The family invites you to a celebration of Al’s life on April 30th from 1-3 pm at the Meyer’s home.  Please direct questions to the family.

The support and service provided by Evergreen Hospice was incredible and allowed Al a comfortable and peaceful passage.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice c/o Evergreen Healthcare Foundation – 12040 NE 128th St. MS #5 – Kirkland, WA 98034-3013.

Al was a wonderful, attentive husband, father and friend.  We will all miss him.
